THE BIGFELLA MACHINE'S INVENTOR
NAME: B.J. JOHNSON
The initials stand for Barclay John. I've gone by B.J. for so long that it only feels natural being called Barclay by relatives.
...as of this writing. I will continue to be so until January of 2010.
PROFESSION: ILLUSTRATOR / GRAPHIC DESIGNER
/ IDEA MAN
By education and inclination. As a friend of mine once said, I can't think of anything else I'd stay up 'til 4 AM doing.
I'm currently available for freelance work, or for full or part time work.
PLACE OF ORIGIN: PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA
A nice place to grow up, overall. Pittsburgh's a friendly place, and the drivers know how to merge into traffic out there.
CURRENT LOCATION: BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS
Aside from the driving, I love Boston. It's my kind of city, cosmopolitan but not relentless. (Unless you're driving someplace.)
GENERAL OUTLOOK: HAPPY TO BE HERE /
LOVING WHAT I DO
It's kind of hard to spin out a personal description or statement of philosophy that gets across anything that my work itself doesn't convey. The reason I do it is because I love it and want to share it, but it's also my profession, and I take it very seriously. There are times where I have to stop and marvel that I live in a country at a point in history where I can pull down a decent living doing what I love. Especially since what I love is working with ideas, building worlds, spinning tales, and conveying it all through visual media. While I'm pleased with the work I've got on display here, and happy to show it off, the exciting thing to me is all the thoughts and ideas and artwork I have yet to do. So stay tuned, folks, 'cos there's a lot more where this came from. Thanks for visiting. Enjoy.
